I was working as an usher at the Baronet/Cornet theaters in New York in 1966, and saw Montgomery Clift on what turned out to be the night he died. He was dragging himself home. I mean dragging literally because he was a complete wreck. As he crawled along third avenue towards his home (which was a block away from the theaters where I worked) people on the crowded sidewalk pulled away from him, as if he were a leper. It was a horrible sight I shall never forget. He was a great actor and a deeply sad man. Give him a star.
