Anthony Lampert about MacRae, Gordon

Yes he does. I live in England and I've recently acquired some MP3 discs of around half of The Railroad Hour shows which ran from 1948 to 1954 every week and it's incredible that Gordon MacRae was able to learn and perform these shows each week with such ease. His voice was unmatched in show business at that time I think, with his beautiful tone, extensive range from deep baritone to high tenor and depth of feeling he could express. The range of music was also extraordinary from operetta to pop and he seemed to be able to sing just about anything. Thank goodness he got the leads in Oklahoma! and Carousel to remember him by.
