I had the privilege of knowing Dr. Goldman as a child and was thirteen years old when he passed away in 1956. My dad, Ned Mahoney, played cornet in the Goldman Band, along with friends and colleagues of the Ernest Williams School of Music, starting in the mid to late 1930's. My parents took me to many Goldman Band concerts in both Central and Prospect Parks, and it was always a special thrill to visit with Dr. Goldman on those occasions.

I have a wonderful autographed photo of him conducting which I treasure to this day, along with a biography of John Phillip Sousa which he gave to me. He visited our home on Long Island and often was a guest
conductor at several Long
Island high school band
concerts which we attended.
Dr.Goldman meant so much to the Mahoney family and undoubtedly helped to instill in me a lifelong appreciation
of music.

Bravo, Dr. Edwin Franko Goldman!
