Victor Westbrook about Fibber McGee & Molly

Do the Jordans deserve their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? Absolutely!
I'm a baby boomer and didn't have the opportunity to experience "Fibber McGee and Molly" firsthand, but I've come to appreciate the genius of their comedy through exposure on tapes, and now on cd, which I've come to use nightly to bring my day to a close.
This was genuine comedy that relied on nothing more than cleverly written dialog (and it was extremely clever) delivered by earnest, experienced performers who seemed to enjoy what they were doing, and Fibber McGee and Molly's audience unquestionably enjoyed what they were getting. Unfortunately, there's nothing quite like it today. And that's a shame.
And even though I didn't grow up during the war years, I think I understand the attraction this great old program held for radio listeners, representing a measure of sanity and stability brought to the lives of Mr. and Mrs. America when it was needed the most.
Jim and Marian Jordan and their cast and crew offered radio listeners something very unique: a genuine "shared" experience delivered by a medium that enlisted one's imagination in a manner that was engaging and fun.
To paraphrase Molly's frequently-heard comment, "Tis funny, McGee!" And it was, and is still funny, and will continue to survive long past my time.
